Traders meet Stg Comm chairman, seek clarification on conv charges

New Delhi, June 22 (UNI) The traders in Delhi today demanded augmentation of MCD administrative structure to collect conversion charges while seeking clarification on the new conversion rates announced by the Centre on Wednesday.

A delegation of the traders called upon chairman of the MCD Standing Committee Vijender Gupta and presented a memorandum to him on the issue.

The delegation also met MCD Additional Commissioner Naresh Kumar.

Talking to reporters, the Delhi president of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Ramesh Khanna said the delegation demanded clarification on whether or not shops falling in special area were liable to pay conversion charges.

The delegation also demanded that people who have paid conversion charges on the basis of earlier notified rates should also get benefit of the reduced charges and excess amount received from them must be refunded.

The traders also demanded that special counters be set up in each MCD Zonal office to collect conversion charges whereas Help Counters be established in each Ward Constituency to provide information and clarification to the public.

Mr Gupta assured the traders that administrative structure of the MCD was fully geared up to collect conversion&parking charges and special counters will be set up in each zone. Efforts will also be made to organise special camps in the markets to facilitate traders, he added.
