Tihar inmate sodomised by fellow prisoner

New Delhi,Jun 22 (UNI) After a recent spate of deaths, Asia's largest prison is once again in news with an undertrial alleging of having been sexually assaulted in front of his inmates by a fellow accused.

A case in this regard has been registered at Hari Nagar police station this morning after the 'victim' Alamin reported the last night incident, said a jail official.

Arrested on June 20 last on charges of thefs Alamin in his complaint alleged that his fellow inmate Shahid sodomised him yesterday night in front of 20 other men in his cell in Jail No 8.

He also alleged that he was threatened against reporting the matter.

Shahid, an undertrial, is in Tihar Jail for the last one-and-a-half years on charges of robbery.

Tihar spokeman Sunil Kumar Gupta said this was a first-of-its-kind case in the high security prison.

''Both have now been kept in separate cells and investigations are on,'' he added.
