Rs 16 lakh poppy husk seized in Punjab

Ludhiana, June 22 (UNI) The Punjab Police today seized 29 quintals poppy husk valued at Rs 16 lakh and arrested two persons in this connection near Jagraon in Ludhiana rural police district.

According to the police, a police party intercepted a truck on the outskirts of Jagraon and on search of the vehicle found the poppy husk stuffed in sacks. The truck driver Kulwant Singh and his assistant Jaswinder Singh were taken into custody and booked under the NDPS Act.

They had brought the contraband from Rajasthan and were to sell it at Goraya in Jalandhar district, police claimed.
