Rifle of MLA's PSO snatched, later found

Guwahati, June 22 (UNI) A miscreant last night manhandled the PSO of Dispur MLA Akon Bora at his residence and took away the guard's 303 rifle.

Police today said the PSO, Sohrab Ali Ahmed, was assaulted by the miscreant at the MLA's Beltala residence, and later snatched away the rifle.

MLA Akon Bora was not present at his residence at the time of the incident.

Police said the miscreant was identified as Jaydhar Barman, a fourth grade employee of the state's Social Welfare department.

The rifle was found from Barman's residence today.

While Barman was still absconding, his motorcycle was seized by police from his residence.

Police suspected that the accused was mentally-retarded.
