New Delhi, June 22 (UNI) Three sector-specific special economic zones (SEZ's) of Mukesh Ambani and one of Anil Ambani besides that of GMR and DLF were among the 36 SEZs which were today approved by the board of approval (BoA) for SEZs.

The BoA also granted in-principle approvals to nine more SEZs, an official statement here said.

With this, the Central government has approved 339 SEZs, of which 126 have been notified.

Of the three SEZs of Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries approved today, one each relate to bio-technology, light engineering and phramaceuticals. All three located in Navi Mumbai would be spread over an area of 346 hectares. Mukesh's multi-product SEZ, to be spread over 25,000 acres in Raigad district of Maharashtra, however, is still awaiting nod of the BoA, though Maharashtra government has given its approval.

Anil Ambani's SEZ for IT/ITES, to be located at the existing Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City in Navi Mumbai, has also been given the green signal. It will occupy 18.26 hectares.

The BoA also gave the go-ahead to GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd to set up a sector specific SEZ in aviation in Hyderabad in 100 hectares of land. It allowed Delhi-based realtor DLF Ltd to set up an electronics hardware and IT/ITES SEZ at Sonepat in Haryana.

Besides this, the board also approved five more SEZs in Haryana.

These are of GP Realtors which have been permitted to establish two SEZs in electronic hardware and IT/ITES in Gurgaon district, and one each of Mohan Investments and Properties Pvt Ltd, Mayar India Ltd, and Raheja Haryana SEZ Developers Pvt Ltd in IT/ITES, biotechnology and engineering sectors respectively.

As many as ten each of the approved SEZs would be located in Tamil Nadu and Maharasthra. Eight of Tamil Nadu's SEZs are in the field of IT/ITES, while the remaining two are in electronic hardware and food processing. Six of the Tamil Nadu's SEZs are being set up in the state-owned Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu, all in IT/ITES.

Prominent among the nine SEZs which got in-principle approvals of the BoA are DLF's multi-product SEZ on 2,024 hectare of land in Alwar district of Rajasthan, another multi-product SEZ to be set up by Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corpopration on a land measuring 1,049 hectares in Virudhunagar district and Ramky Infrastructure's phrama, biotech and chemical-based SEZ over 1,012 hectares of land in Midnapur district of West Bengal.
