Left leaders sign Pratibha's nomination papers

New Delhi, June 22: Left leaders today signed the nomination papers of Ms Pratibha Patil, the UPA-Left Presidential nominee.

CPI(M) Parliamentary leader Sitaram Yechury, CPI Floor leader in the Lok Sabha Gurudas Dasgupta, along with other Left leaders -- Mr S Sudhakar Reddy, Mr Ajoy Chakervertty and RSP leader Mr Abani Roy -- signed the documents at the official residence of External Affairs Minsiter Pranab Mukherjee.

The Left leaders signed the papers in the presence of Parlimentary Affairs Minsiter P R Dasmunsi, his deputy Suresh Pachouri and Forward Bloc Secretary G Devrajan, Mr Dasgupta told sources.

UPA Chief Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Tamil Nadu Chief Minsiter and DMK President M Karunanidhi, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, Chemical and Fertliser Minister Ramvilas Paswan and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar have already singed the nomination papers of Ms patil.

Even non-UPA parties, including the BSP and the Rashtriya Lok Dal, have also put their seal of support on Ms Patil's candidature.

For the Presidential candidate, each set has to be proposed by at least 50 members of the electoral college and seconded by as many members.
