History sheeter served as policeman for 25 yrs

Kaushambhi, June 22 (UNI) A history sheeter, who was serving as a policeman for the last 25 years in the district, has been suspended, after when the truth was discovered recently.

''Mahendra Singh of Kampil village was befooling the police department since 1982. The criminal joined the service on basis of a fake residential address,'' Superintendent of Police O P Sagar told UNI here.

Mahendra had been accused in a murder case, besides an FIR for rioting which was lodged against him in 1979. He was also blamed in another case of holding a person captive in 1987.

During his service period also, Mahendra used to keep his relations with crime world intact and disobeyed departmental rules and regulations.

The truth came to the fore only after the police department enquired about his leaves, which he used to avail of on a regular basis to appear for his court hearings.
