Haryana to give free uniforms to SC students

Chandigah, June 22 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to provide free uniforms to the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Weaker Sections studying in classes 6th to 8th in the government schools of the state.

Haryana Education Minister Phool Chand Mullana today said that for this purpose an amount of Rs 5.50 crore had been earmarked for the current financial year.

He said Rs 8.73 crore had been spent last year for providing the free uniform to the primary classes students belonging to Scheduled castes and weaker sections of the society while Rs 4.60 crore had been spent for middle class student.

The state government had spent an amount of Rs 4.60 crore during the year 2005-06 and as many as 2.64 lakh girls had been benefited under the scheme.
