Germany says has stepped up anti-terror measures

BERLIN, June 22 (Reuters) German authorities have stepped up vigilance against possible terror attacks on German soil, an interior ministry spokesman said today.

There was evidence to suggest terrorist training groups in Afghanistan had become stronger and were ready for action and that people from Europe, including Germany, were part of them, the spokesman said at a regular government news conference.

''The German security authorities have increased their vigilance and have taken extra measures.'' He said there was evidence Germany might be targeted by suicide bombers.

German government spokesman Thomas Steg said there was no concrete danger and people should not behave differently.
