Five civilians injured in inter-factional clash

Kohima, Jun 22 (UNI) Five members of a family were injured after a bomb exploded in their house during an inter-factional clash in Namsa town under Tizit sub-division of Mon district.

Official sources here today said the injured, including three women, were shifted to Sonari town at Sivsagar district of Asom.

The clash, between two rival factions of NSCN, started during the early hours yesterday, but it was stopped. However, it again started towards evening and continued till late night.

Sources said the cadres of both the factions asked the local people to leave the area and go to safer places. Consequently, some people fled to Asom for safety.

The district administration officials rushed to the spot and said that the situation was very tense, following the stand-off.

Sources said the NSCN (K) faction wanted to establish a camp in the area, which was resisted by the rival faction.

Meanwhile, the district administration was keeping a strict vigil on the situation and police personnel had been deployed to thwart any untoward incident, official sources said.
