Dera followers give memo to Governor

Hoshiarpur, June 22 (UNI) The followers of Dera Sacha Sauda today presented a memorandum to the Punjab Governor Gen (retd) S F Rodrigues, through Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur, here today claiming that Dera chief Baba Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh was ''falsely implicated in a case by the Bhatinda police under a deep conspiracy''.

The Dera followers, led by Incharge of Dera Hoshiarpur, Chanan Ram, demanded withdrawal of the ''false case'' against their Chief, stressing that the ''conspiracy'' had severely hurt their religious sentiments.

They also said that the government must ensure religious freedom to the Dera followers like those of otherv religions and dera.

They asserted that Dera Sacha Sauda was purely a religious body serving the humanity and respected all the religions.
