Youth killed by eve-teasers

Barasat, Jun 21 (UNI) A 28-year-old youth of Bodai Dakhinpara in North 24 Parganas was allegedly killed by a gang of eve-teasers.

Police arrested five Class 12 students in this connection and registered a case against them under section 304 IPC they were produced them before the sub-divisional court here today.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Barasat, remanded the five accused Alok Kahar, Biswajit Kahar, Krishnapada Kahar, Bapi Bera and Abhijit Halder to 14 days' judicial custody.

According to the police, the accused youths had not only teased local girls, but had also assaulted Ghosh, a local youth who protested their attempts to harass the girls.

They hit the victim with a piece of wood, seriously injuring him. Biswanath was brought to a local health centre where he was declared brought dead.

Incidentally, one of their accomplices, who allegedly joined these students in the afternoon, escaped arrest, police said.
