Thai delegation to visit NER to boost cooperation

New Delhi, June 21(UNI) A high-level Thai delegation led by Thailand's Minister for Commerce Krirk-Krai Jirapaet will be on a four-day visit of the North-Eastern Region beginning June 22, towards boosting the cooperation of the region with Thailand.

The Thai delegation will be accompanied by Mani Shankar Aiyar- Minister for the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).

The delegation will go to Agartala, Guwahati and Shillong and have detailed discussions and deliberations with Ministers of Industry and Commerce.

The Thai delegation will also acquaint themselves on various issues related to handicraft, handloom, power, roads, tea, tourism, horticulture, etc.

Interaction between officials / businessmen of Thailand and India have also being organized.

Thailand and India have lot of similarities in geographical and biodiversity features. It would be a great advantage to North Eastern Regions, if, Thailand can partner in areas of road construction, river transport, rubber industry and silk industry.

It is expected that this visit will boost cooperation between Thailand and North Eastern Regions of the country.
