Task force constituted to control "Kalazar" in Bihar
Patna June 21 (UNI) The Bihar government today constituted a task force headed by former union health minister and noted kalazar expert Dr C P Thakur to control the disease in the state.
The state health department issued a notification for constitution of the 14-member task force and Dr Thakur would its the president and the Development Commissioner its Vice-president. The committee will have representatives of the state health department, union Health department, the WHO and UNICEF.
Later, Dr Thakur told newspersons that the state would the committee would focus on the preventive aspects of the disease and apart from providing proper treatment, it would concentrate on creating awareness among the people about the "Kalazar".
Meanwhile, leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Rabri Devi expressed concern over the deaths being reported due to "Kalazar" and alleged that the Nitish Kumar government had not taken any effective measures to prevent its spread.
