MP, UP to jointly monitor flood situation

Bhopal, June 21 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh will jointly monitor the flood situation in the border districts.

Senior officers of both states met at Rewa yesterday to finalise the modalities for sharing information relating to water level and discharge from Sirsi, Meja and Adva dams on the Belan river in Uttar Pradesh and Tons river in Madhya Pradesh.

At the joint flood control committee meeting chaired by Rewa Divisional Commissioner S K Ved, Mirzapur Commissioner U D Dwivedi held out the assurance to extend all cooperation in rescue efforts during flood, official sources said.

Officers of both states also agreed to remain in regular contact with the flood control rooms for updating information on the flood situation. A consensus was also reached for constant monitoring on the safety of dams and for quick action as per emergency plan in the event of flood.
