Mother, son die in road mishap in Punjab

Hoshiarpur, June 21 (UNI) A mother and her two-and-a-half year old son were killed, while her husband was injured when a truck rammed into their scooter near Maxpur village today, police here stated.

The family hailing from Harwan village was on their way to Garhshankar when the mishap occured. The deceased were identified Kulwinder Kaur (22) and her son Jossu, who died on the spot.

Her husband Manjit Singh, who was seriously injured, was admitted to the Civil Hospital at Garhshankar.

According to the police, the truck driver, who was identified as Suresh Kumar of Baliangiri in Mandi district, tried to flee after the accident but was nabbed by the police. A case under sections 304A, 279 and 338 of the IPC has been registered against him.
