Mumbai, June 21 (UNI) Larsen&Toubro, a frontrunner in engineering and construction, has bagged USD 94.95 million order to build two multipurpose heavy lift vessels (MHLV) from Netherland-based BigLift Shipping.
L&T, who is a recent entrant in the ship building sector, today informed BSE that the ships would be built at its existing shipyard at Hazira, Surat.
BigLift Shipping has a current fleet strength of 13 heavy lift vessels having a maximum lifting capacity of 1400 MT. The new ships will be equipped with two Huisman Heavy lift mast cranes each having a Safe Working Load (SWL) of 900 MT.
The MHLVs, which will have a length of 154.8 meter, beam 26.5 meter and 18,680 tonne dead-weight, can carry all kinds of dry cargo as well as project cargoes and can perform heavy lifts in the most efficient manner.
L&T is a major player in international arenas and had posted an 18 per cent growth in total revenues in last few years, according to company sources.
