LJP dares PDP to withdraw from J

Srinagar, Jun 21 (UNI) The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) today dared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to withdraw from the ruling coalition in Jammu and Kashmir instead of resorting to 'political blackmail'.

Addressing a news conference here, LJP national vice president Sanjay Saraf said the PDP leadership has been threatening from the past two years to leave the ruling coalition.

''It is political blackmailing and a cruel joke with sentiments and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. If the PDP is hell-bent on leaving the ruling coalition what is stopping its leadership from taking the decision?'' he asked.

Mr Saraf said this demonstrated that PDP leaders were more interested in power and ''saving their chairs'' than working for the betterment and welfare of the people of the state.

Launching a scathing attack on the PDP, he said for the past two years the party has been propagating either self-rule or troop reduction in the state.

''By resorting to such acts, the PDP has been misleading the people of Jammu and Kashmir,'' Mr Saraf claimed.

He said serious differences among the alliance partners in the Congress-led coalition government have severely affected the functioning of the state administration.

''Due to this internal bickering among the coalition partners, the state administration is paralysed and the people were getting affected and are suffering,'' the LJP leader said.

He said all the political parties have gone into an election mode more than a year before the scheduled Assembly polls in the state.

''The entire administration is focussed on making arrangements for public meetings and rallies of these political parties across the state and the people are suffering,'' Mr Saraf claimed.
