Lightning kills 9 in Vidarbha
Nagpur, June 21 (UNI) Nine persons, including two children, were killed when lightning struck them at five different places in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, police said today.
According to police, two persons were killed at two different places in Akola district, while a man and his son were killed in Chandrapur district of the region yesterday.
A farm labourer, identified as Mohammed Sajid Abdul Jabbar (22), a resident of Balapur in Akola district, was killed after lightning struck him while he was working in a field near the village last evening, police said. In a similar incident, a farmer Purushottam Waman Gaigol (35), a resident of village Pimpri Malegaon in the district was killed when lightning struck him while he was working in a field, police said.
A farmer, Devrao Shankar Satpute (40), and his son Prafull Devrao Satpute (12), were killed in a similar incident in village Devada in Chandrapur district.
Five persons, including a woman and a child, were killed when they were struck by lightning at two different places in Buldhana district in the region yesterday.
