Lightning claims 9 lives in Marathwada

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, June 21 (UNI) Nine more people were killed after being struck by lightning in the last 24 hours in different parts of Marathwada region, taking the toll to 85 since May 31.

Two young women reportedly died in the district due to lightning while working in their farms.

The deceased have been identified as Sakhu Eknath Salve (35), a resident of Kingaon in Phulamri tehsil, and another 35-year-old woman Vimal Dhanraj Wagh, a resident of Shivna village in Sillod tehsil of the district.

Three other women, who were working with her in the field, too sustained grave injuries. They have been admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital here.

So far, nine lightning related deaths have been reported from Aurangabad district, while 15 died in Jalna, seven in Parbhani, nine in Hingoli, 18 in Nanded, 13 in Beed, nine in Latur and five in Osmanabad.
