Lahiri maintains two stroke lead
Bangalore, June 21 (UNI) Top amateur golfer Anirban Lahiri shot a level par 70 to maintain a two-stroke advantage atop the leader board at the end of the penultimate round of the LG Southern India Amateur Golf Championship, at the par-70 Bangalore Golf Club, here today.
Lahiri's three round tally now stands at six under 204.
OIL India's Simarjeet Singh brought in the day's best card of three under 67 to occupy the second place at 206 while Abhishek Jho was two strokes behind in third place at 208 after shooting a penultimate round of 71.
Lahiri failed to produce the form that saw him shoot a 64 on the opening day. He fired birdies on the third and fourth to make the turn at two under. However, he dropped a shot each on the 10th, 11th and 12th. But a birdie on the 13th saw him end the day at level par. ''I am pretty much disappointed with my round. I committed the same mistakes on the 10th, 11 th and 12th,'' said Lahiri. ''Overall I had a bad scoring day. In the last six holes, I missed four birdie putts from less than 10 feet,'' he added. Simarjeet Singh had birdies on the fourth, sixth, 15th and 18th holes. He erred only once on the 11th. ''The course was playing much softer. The pin position on the back nine were a lot tougher today,' said the three time Sri Lanka amateur champion.
Abhishek Jha had birdies on the fourth and eighth and dropped shots on the third, ninth and 13 th.
