IUML to support Pratibha Patil

New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) The Indian Union Muslim League today formally pledged its support to UPA-Left Presidential nominee Pratibha Patil in the July 19 elections.

IUML National President G M Banatwala said in a statement here today that the Political Advisory Committee of the IUML had authorised him to take a decision on party's support in the presidential election.

He said he had already consulted his party leaders, including Kerala unit chief Panakkad Mohammedali Shihab Thangal, Tamil Nadu chief K M Khader Mohideen and Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed.

The IUML is a constituent of the ruling Congress-led UPA at the centre.
