Gold rebounds, Tokyo futures off 2-week highs

SINGAPORE, June 21 (Reuters) Gold rebounded on Thursday on bargain hunting, while Tokyo futures tracked losses in New York and traded below two-week highs hit the previous day.

-- Spot gold rose to $654.00/655.50 an ounce from $650.50/657.00 late in New York on Wednesday, when it dropped more than 1 percent due to falling oil prices .

-- April 2008 gold futures on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange fell 16 yen per gram to 2,628 yen, having rallied to the highest in nearly two weeks at 2,649 yen on Wednesday.

-- The yen held near a 4-1/2-year low against the dollar on Thursday amid signs that it will remain a funding currency for investors purchasing higher-yielding currencies in carry trades.

-- The dollar was little changed at 123.49 yen -- off a peak of 123.76 yen struck earlier in the week, the highest since December 2002.

-- The euro was steady at $1.3396 .

-- Silver inched down to $13.14/13.18 an ounce from $13.21/13.25 late in New York.

-- Platinum fell to $1,285/1,290 an ounce from $1,290/1,294 an ounce late in New York on Wednesday, when it rallied to its highest in nearly two weeks at $1,295 on supply concerns.

-- Palladium dipped to $371/376 an ounce from $373/377 an ounce.
