Asom: Former cadres warn ULFA
Guwahati, Jun 21: Former ULFA cadres have warned the outfit to restrain from targeting them.
''We have been leading a peaceful life after giving up arms. The ULFA has started targeting the surrendered members off and on,'' stated a press statement yesterday signed by some top surrendered ULFA cadres like Jugal Kishore Mahanta, Sunil Nath, Saurav Gogoi and Mridul Phukon.
Anguished by their attacks, the SULFA(surrendered ULFA) body maintained that the onus of security of the surrendered cadres lies with the state government and police.
The SULFA warned that if the attacks on its members continued, it would have to 'make provisions on its own'.
It also appealed to the public to protest against violence and fratricidal killings sponsored by the outfit.
Incidentally, a surrendered cadre of the ULFA Rinku Choudhury was gunned down near the Dispur capital complex a few days back by armed miscreants.
