Five BMC corporators disqualified

Mumbai, Jun 21 (UNI) The election officer of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) today disqualified 5 municipal corporators, who had submitted fake caste certificates for contesting this year's BMC elections.

The disqualified corporators are Anjum Fatima (NCP), Lalji Yadav (SP), Narayan Pawar (Independent) and Vishwanath Mahadeshwar and Pravin Devare (Shiv Sena).

All the five corporators had approached the court after the alection officer of the BMC had found some shortcomings in their caste certificates.

BMC sources said the High court today cancelled their application after they failed to produce the relevant caste certificates.

According to BMC officials, there will be re-elections in the wards represented by these corporators.
