Extortion case registered against TTEs, RPF jawans
Lucknow, June 21 (UNI) A case has been registered against two Train Ticket Examiners (TTE) and eight Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawans for allegedly extorting money from passengers aboard the Dhanbad-Ferozpur Ganga Satluj Express.
The case was registered by the Government Railway Police (GRP) station at Shahjahanpur district last night, official sources said today.
On June 19, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) research scientist R S Dubey, Atma Ram Dubey, Ramesh Chopra and T P Sharma were travelling on board the train from Varanasi to Saharanpur.
During the course of journey between Shahjahanpur and Bareilly, they had a tiff with two TTEs Sudha Mishra and J P Sharma.
They charged the TTEs and some RPF jawans with extorting money.
When one of the passengers tried to capture the scene on his camera, the TTEs allegedly engaged in a scuffle with the four passengers from Varanasi, who later alleged to have been robbed of Rs 40,000, camera and other valuables by the railways staff.
Investigations were on.
