EC to decide on TN bypoll: CEO

Chennai, June 21 (UNI) The Election Commission of India has to decide whether the by-elections to the Madurai West Assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu scheduled for June 26 has to be postponed following alleged incidents of violence and distribution of money to voters by candidates of various political parties, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Naresh Gupta today said.

Speaking to pressmen at airport here before emplaning for New Delhi, Mr Gupta said he would be attending the State Chief Electoral Officers meeting in the capital.

To a question, the CEO said he had sent a detailed report to the EC based on the information received by him on the alleged incidents.
