Depression near Gopalpur coast

Bhubaneswar, Jun 21 (UNI) A depression formed over West Central Bay of Bengal about 430 kms South East of Gopalpur will cause heavy to very heavy rains in Orissa during the next 48 hours.

Met sources here said the system is likely to intensify further and move in a West-North-Westerly direction and cross North Andhra Pradesh coast between Narsapur and Visakhapatnam by tomorrow afternoon.

Under its impact rain and thundershower is likely to occur at many places while heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over Orissa and squally weather with easterly windspeed reaching 50-70 kmph would prevail along and off south Orissa coast.

Meanwhile, the authority has hoisted the local cautionary signal number three at Gopalpur,Puri and Paradip ports ports and advised the fishermen not to venture out into the open sea.
