Ludhiana, June 21 (UNI) A local court here today rejected the bail application of B I S Chahal, the high-profile media advisor to former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh, and three others in a criminal case registered against them under variours sections of the IPC, including 307, which amounts to attempt to murder.

The bail plea came up for hearing before Additional Sessions Judge M S Virdi. The court, however, granted bail to two others in this case.

The case was registered against Chahal and six others on June 10 at a local police station on the complaint of Harchand Singh, a farmer of Daad village who alleged that he was threatened and beaten up as he resisted the attempts of Chahal and others to grab his three-acre land in October last year. The police had arrested Chahal and the others named in the FIR on the same day of the registeration of the case.

Besides Chahal, the others whose bail plea was rejected included Jagdish Singh and his brothers Harbhajan Singh and Jaswinder Singh.

Chahal's son is married to the daughter of Jagdish Singh.

The rejection of the bail plea means that Chahal and the three brothers would remain in judicial custody till June 27.

The court, however, granted bail to Kartar Singh and his grandson Harjinder Singh. Iqbal Singh, another grandson of Kartar Singh, has already been granted bail.
