Congress reiterates allegations against CM on land acquisition

Bangalore, June 21 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council H K Patil today reiterated his allegation against Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy saying that the coalition government was in the process of acquiring thousands of acres of land to hand over it to land developers.

Talking to newsmen here, Mr Patil alleged that the Chief Minister was 'lying' to the people of the state and it was against his (Mr Kumaraswamy) commitment that his government would not indulge in looting the land of the farmers against their interest.

Demanding an apology to the people by Mr Kumarswamy, Mr Patil said that the Chief Minister should immediately stop the process of acquiring the land from farmers.

Mr Patil also produced a document of the letter written by KIADB to the Gandhi City developers for developing a township in Ramanagar taluk asking for balance payment of Rs 16 crore in connection with the acquisition of 1000 acres of farmers land.

"This letter written by KIADB on April 5, was sufficient proof that his government is involved in the process of acquiring thousands of acres of farmers land for the development of Special Economic Zones in the state and he could not deny that his government is indulging in anti-farmers activities any more," he added.

Mr Patil said that Congress party would take up the fight against the issue both inside and outside the House.
