Cong reiterates allegations against CM on land acquisition
Bangalore, Jun 21 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council H K Patil today reiterated his allegation against Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy that the JD(S)-BJP coalition Government was in the process of acquiring thousands of acres of farm lands to hand it over to land developers.
Talking to newspersons here, he alleged that the Chief Minister was 'lying' to the people of the State after announcing that his Government would not indulge in looting the land of farmers against their interests.
Demanding an apology from Mr Kumaraswamy, he said the Chief Minister should immediately stop the process of acquiring land from farmers.
Mr Patil produced a letter written by the KIADB to the Gandhi City developers for developing a township in Ramanagar taluk, seeking balance payment of Rs 16 crore for acquiring 1,000 acres of farmland.
''This letter written by the KIADB on April five is sufficient proof that his Government is involved in the process of acquiring thousands of acres of farm land for the development of Special Economic Zones in the State and he can not deny that his Government is indulging in anti-farmers activities any more,'' he said, adding that the Congress would take up the fight against the issue both inside and outside the House.
