CM asks city senior cop to ease traffic chaos in AP capital

Hyderabad, June 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today expressed serious concern over traffic bottlenecks in the city, particularly with the onset of monsoon.

Dr Reddy asked Additional Commissioner of Traffic (Hyderabad City) V S K Kaumudi, who called on the Chief Minister today, to take stock of the situation and initiate steps to ease traffic chaos in the city, particularly when there was heavy downpour in the city.

The chief minister asked him to fully gear up to meet the situation once the monsoon fully set in. He wanted immediate action to ensure the situation improved substantially.

The traffic situation in city was becoming a big problem and unless urgent steps were initiated, it might worsen further.

There was absolutely no traffic discipline in the city and chaos could be seen everywhere. This had to end soon and smooth flow of traffic in city and its outskirts must be given top most priority, he told Mr Kaumudi.

He had already sanctioned 600 additional Home Guards for controllign city traffic and if required, more could be recruited.

Dr Reddy wanted the city traffic chief to be stringent with people parking their vehicles on the main roads, causing traffic congestion.
