Chhattisgarh HC grants bail in bank scam case
Bilaspur, June 21 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh High Court today granted bail to a bank director who was incarcerated for the past eight months in the wake of Raipur's Indira Priyadarshini Women's Cooperative Bank scam.
Sulochana Adil obtained bail from Justice Sunil Sinha who rejected anticipatory bail pleas of Chairman Rita Tiwari, directors Savita Shukla and Kusum Chouke who are absconding.
''My client's responsibilities were restricted to laying down policy,'' Adil's Counsel Satish Chandra Verma submitted.
Investors were cheated of Rs 24 crore through manipulation in accounts and loans. On November 1, 2006, Manager Umesh Sinha and Adil were jailed.
