Arunachal police busts vehicle lifter gang

Itanagar, Jun 21: The Arunachal Pradesh police has busted a gang of vehicle lifters by arresting one Yarkum Dada and his associated Radhe Tallong from Sepa in East Kameng district and Kamal Saikia from Gohpur in Asom's Lakhimpur district and recovered seven stolen vehicles from their possession yesterday.

Papum Pare district superintendent of police (SP) Chuku Appa informed that Mr Dada, a notorious burglar and vehicle lifter was charge sheeted in a number of heinous crimes such as kidnapping, robbery, theft and attempt to murder.

His area of operation includes East Kameng, West Kameng, Papum Pare districts in Arunachal besides several districts in neighbouring Asom, the SP added.

Mr Appa further informed that the gang used to make fake vehicle documents and transport to Nagaland and Manipur.

Earlier, Dada was arrested in several occasions for stealing motorcycles but released on bail and now he had switched over to lifting four wheelers, the SP disclosed adding, it won't be any surprise if the criminal was let off on bail this time.

He, however, suggested that to control and prevent crime, the judiciary and police need to act in unison.
