Work on nuke power plant to begin soon

Chandigarh, Jun 20 (UNI) The Haryana government today said work to set up a nuclear power plant in the state would begin soon.

Haryana Chief Secretary Prem Prashant said in response to the state government's proposal to set up the nuclear power plant, a special team of the Central government has visited the state, selected a site and conducted its inspection.

''The work to set up a nuclear power plant would commence soon,'' he said while talking to reporters here.

A team of senior officers from the Nuclear Energy Power Corporation (NEPC) had recently visited Kumaria village in Fatehabad district, where the proposed nuclear power plant would be set up.

He said Chairman of National Highway Authority Pradeep Kumar had given a green signal to six lane the National Highway number one from Ambala to Delhi. The contract for the same would be allotted in next two months.

He said more than five km long elevated highway at Panipat would be completed by March 31.

The Chief Secretary said that the plan to construct multi-storey parkings in Panipat and Gurgaon in view of the increasing number of vehicles was being finalised and the task to construct such parkings would be allotted to government and non-governmental organisations.
