Synopsys acquires ArchPro Design Automation Inc

Bangalore, June 20: Synopsys, a world leader in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software for semiconductor design, has acquired ArchPro Design Automation Inc, a pioneer and also leader in the power Management EDA sector, Synopsys (India) Managing Director Pradeep K Dutta said today.

Describing the acquisition as a major strategy to remain as the leader in the Electronic Design in which Synopsys enjoys over 40 per cent market share globally, Dr Pradeep said the combination would enable semiconductor designers to successfully meet their power goals.

He said Synopsys one of the leading EDA company in the world with over USD one billion revenue, has strategic presence in India.

ArchPro's technologies would enable engineers to address power management challenges in multi-voltage designs from chip architecture to RTL and gate-level design.

These technologies would allow verification of modern power management techniques such as power gating, substrate biasing, dynamic voltage and frequency scaling and extend Synopsy's leadership in lower power design and verification.

Terming the absorption of ArchPro as a major breakthrough Dr Pradeep said Synopsys was the leading solution provider for low power designs and was playing a crucial role in driving power format standards. ''ArchPro's silicon-proven power management technologies are a natural fit with Synopsys'' he added.

Synopsys (verification group) Senior Vice President and General Manager Manoj Gandhi, said ArchPro has built technology leadership to address the need of the EDA market, which was growing at 24 per cent. The acquisition would help Synopsys continue to address customers needs beyond SystemVerilog leadership and deliver state-of-the-art power management verification technologies, he added.
