Monsoon arrives after some delay in Pune, Mumbai
Pune, June 20 (UNI) After a long delay the monsoons finally arrived in Pune and Mumbai, according Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) here today.
The announcement was made after the monsoon advanced into some more parts of madhya Maharashtra belt stretching from Jalgaon (at the northen end) to Kolhapur (down south).
IMD Director (Forecasting) Ms Rohini Lele said here that the arrival of monsoon in the city is almost eight days behind normal schedule, considering the fact that the season takes ten days to hit Pune and Mumbai from the day of its normal onset in the country that is on the Kerala coast.
Normal rainfall in Pune for June is 116 mm (11.6 cm) and the city has received barely 12 mm rainfall from June 1 to 19 which is 50 mm short of the normal mark for the 19 days duration, she said.
