Hyderabad, Jun 20 (UNI) The Muslim United Action Committee and other Muslim organisations today issued a 'fatwa', opposing the Andhra Pradesh Government's move to provide reservation to Muslims in education and government jobs on the basis of caste.

Addressing the press here, All India Majlis -e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MP Asaduddin Owaisi said the organisations were opposing the caste-based reservation. It would not serve the purpose as the community desperately needed reservation for their uplift.

Stating that the repercussions on the caste-based reservation in Muslims would be severe once it was implemented, Mr Owaisi said the it was against 'Islam and Shariat'.

A delegation of the United Action Committee would meet Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to apprise him of the impact of such reservations.
