Committee on SDMC submits report

Bangalore, June 20 (UNI) The House Committee formed by the Karnataka Legislative Council to study the functioning of the School Development and Management Committees (SDMC) today submitted its report making several recommendations for promoting a better coordination between SDMC members and the teaching staff.

Committee Chairman L Hanumantaiah told reporters after submitting the report to the Council Chairman B K Chandrasekhar, that it was recommended to strengthen the SDMC system as it would help in improving the School Administration.

The Committee has also stressed for including more women members in the SDMC to remove the exploitation of women teachers by SDMC members.

The House Committee was appointed following the suicide by a woman teacher at Venkatapur in Gadag district due to harassment by a SDMC member a few months ago.
