4 passengers wounded, robbed by cops

Moradabad, June 20 (UNI) Four train passengers, including two Banaras Hindu University (BHU) professors, were allegedly wounded and robbed of cash worth several lakhs of rupees by the railway police.

The incident occurred yesterday evening aboard Ferozpur-bound Ganga Satluj Express, wherein they had a heated exchange of words with Train Ticket Examiners (TTE) Sudha Mishra and J P Sharma near Bareilly station.

These four passengers, which included two BHU professors R S Dubey and Atma Ram Dubey, alleged the railway policemen accompanying the TTEs attacked them and robbed them of their cash and valuables.

The police even damaged their camera, when one of them tried to capture their act.

The BHU professors and Ramesh Chopra and T P Sharma were wounded and forcefully alighted from the train at Rampur station.

Meanwhile, Government Railway Police (GRP) SP Rajesh Modhak met the victims. Investigations were underway.
