4-member panel to probe Bharuch train fire

Vadodara, June 20 (UNI) A four-member inquiry panel was announced today to probe the fire that broke out in a vacant first class bogie of the Virar-Bharuch local passenger train on June 18.

The panel consists of assistant operations manager, assistant mechanical engineer, assistant security commandant and assistant electronics engineer. It has been asked to submit a report within five days to the head office.

The empty train was berthed in the yard when the fire broke. The fire was noticed at 1205 hrs and it took over half an hour for the Bharuch fire brigade to douse it and stop it from spreading.

The panel will record the statement of Gujarat Railway Police (GRP), Bharuch PSI R P Baria, who had rushed to the spot and later registered a first information report (FIR). The statements of RPF officials and witnesses, who were on the spot, would also be recorded.
