Western Air Command beats Southern Air Command
Chandigarh, June 19 (UNI) Western Air Command rained goals against Southern Air Command to record a cakewalk 16-0 triumph in the Air Force Hockey Championship at Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here today.
The highlights of the one-sided Pool A match was, a briliant hattrick by Devesh who struck in the 10th, 15th and 27th minutes, and four goals by S I Singh (38th, 55th, 56th and 68th).
Other scorers were Keshwan (5th, 40th, 41st), Shankar (30th, 41st), B Singh (31st, 32nd), Kulbir (60th) and Fernandez (68th).
The winners had established a commanding 7-0 lead at half time and forced 22 penalty corners.
Meanwhile, South Western Air Command eked out a narrow 1-0 victory in Pool B encounter. The all-important goal was scored by Diwan by converting a penalty corner in the 70th minute.
In another Pool B match, Training Command routed Air Headquarters by 4-0. Samir opened the account in the 10th minue while Nadeem made it 2-0. Just before the half time, Samir helped his team increase their lead to 3-0 with a field goal. S Basheer converted a penalty corner in the 66th minute to round of the winners' tally.
In the final match of the day Maintenance Command (MC) beat Eastern Air Command by 2-1 where Kaushik and Dinesh of MC scored one goal each.
