SP, DSP reinstated in Anara case
Jammu, June 19 (UNI) Two senior police officers suspended for their alleged inaction in the former ''Miss Jammu'' Anara Gupta porn CD case, were reinstated in services by Jammu and Kashmir government, sources today said.
The then Officiating Superintendent of Police Deepak Singh Salathia and Dy SP Tanvir Jilani were reinstated yesterday by an order issued by Commissioner Secretary (Home), B R Kundal, sources said.
On December 21, 2004 the Jammu and Kashmir Police had placed both the officers under suspension after the state High Court expressed displeasure over the police's failure to maintain rulebook and their inaction, as the TV channels were allowed to interview Anara Gupta in custody.
The former ''Miss Jammu'' was formally arrested on November 3, 2004 for her alleged performance in pornographic movies. Her illegal detention by police had sparked off wide-spread controversies and several police officers were placed under suspension.
