Mumbai, June 19 (UNI) Income Tax department officials today raided at some city-based commodity brokers dealing in future trading of essential and non-essential commodities.
The raids are still in progress at the offices and residence of the brokers and are being conducted at around 15 rpt 15 different places, according to IT officials.
''The raids are being conducted in connection with the irregularities in the trading through Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) and National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDX),'' an official said.
According to a leading broker, this is happening for the first time after prices in the commodity market sky-rocketed recently.
However, the raids did not have any impact on the market activities and both the exchanges are functioning as usual.
