Mukherjee exchanges views with Singapore's Goh

Singapore, June 19 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee called on Singapore's Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong this afternoon and discussed ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on key developments in Asia.

During the call, Mr Goh expressed the view that India's economic growth was beneficial for the region and encouraged India to step up its engagement in the region.

Mr Goh has met with Mr Mukherjee previously when he was the Commerce Minister in the PV Narasimha Rao government and as Defence Minister in the UPA government.

Mr Mukherjee is in Singapore for his first three-day official visit as the External Affairs Minister and arrived here yesterday.
