IT search operations on MCX, its branches

New Delhi, June 19 (UNI) The Income Tax Department today conducted search operations on the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) and its associates in Mumbai.

The Department was conducting search on a Commodity Exchange, but did not identify it, a Finance Ministry statement here said.

"Surveys are also being conducted on its branches in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Kolkata," the statement said.

"There is no search in the case of any share broker connected with a stock exchange per se", it said.

MCX Spokesman in Mumbai Ravi Mutreja confirmed to UNI that the search operations were being carried out on the MCX. He, however, said the exchange was functioning normally and there was "no cause for concern." UNI
