Vadodara, June 19 (UNI) A fugitive from justice, Krishna Gethalal Somany was arrested yesterday by CID (crime) and sent to Central jail here today.

Somany, a partner in the famous cement company Somany Cements, was accused of murdering Ram Patel and Ramji Patel, both residents of Lasundhra village in Savli taluka, in 1997 over money dispute of Rs 3 crore. He had hired a professional killer from Indore to do the job.

In 2003, Baroda court had sentenced him to life term and he was sent to the Central jail here.

In October 2004, he applied for parole in Gujarat High Court and was granted 10 days parole. However, he failed to return and disappeared.

Acting on a tip-off that Somany would be coming to a school inauguration function at Halol in Panchamahals district, CID (crime) sleuths kept a close watch and nabbed him yesterday evening during the function.

He has been sent to Baroda central jail today.
