Chanshal slopes to be developed for skiing

Shimla, June 19 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said Chanshal slopes would be developed for skiing and connected with ropeways to promote winter sports and tourism activities in the area.

Kalgah Pattan was also being explored from the tourism point of view, which would provide direct and indirect employment to the locals besides improving their economy, he said at Rohru on the last day of Maharaja Padam Singh Cricket Tournament.

Mr Singh said according to the experts Chanshal slopes were most suitable for ski runs and the government would also create necessary infrastructure for the development of winter sports.

Referring to the ongoing developmental projects in Dodra Kwatr area of the district, he said this area of the district would soon be connected with the rest of the state after the road being constructed through Chanshal slopes was completed.

He said his government has also proposed to construct an international cricket stadium near Shimla.
