18-month child kidnapped

Surat, June 19 (UNI) An 18-month-old boy was kidnapped from his grandparent's house in Saptarishi Society at Kapodra here.

Police said Pransu, son of Paresh Siroya - a diamond worker, was kidnapped Sunday last from his grandfather's house where he and his mother were staying since the last few days.

Rushi the watchman, used to take the boy for a walk every evening. On June 17, too, the boy was taken for a walk but the watchman did not return back with the child.

The police have not been able to trace the watchman so far. The security agency, through which he was hired, has also not been able to provide much information.

Meanwhile, estranged BJP legislator Dhirubhai Gajera has warned that if the police failed to trace the boy within 48 hours, the the Patidar community, to which the boy belongs, will launch an agitation.

Talking to reporters here today, Mr Gajera alleged that rapes, kidnappings and encounter killings have become common place and Chief Minister Narendra Modi should step down owning moral responsibility for the prevalent lawlessness.
