Several dozen rebels killed in Afghan battle - US

KABUL, June 18 (Reuters) US-led and Afghan forces killed several dozen insurgents in a ''prolonged battle'' in southern Afghanistan, the US military said today.

The forces were attacked by an unknown number of guerrillas in the southern province of Helmand yesterday, prompting the troops to call in air support.
